A Partnership for Great Results in Multiple Dental Implants

Multiple dental implant restorations are a key part of modern prosthodontics, giving reliable and long-lasting ways for patients missing some or all teeth. Unlike single implant cases, which deal with replacing one tooth, multiple implant restorations involve the smart placement of several implants to support a larger dental structure, from multi-unit bridges to full sets of new teeth.

At Istar Dental Lab, we help you with every step of the multiple dental implant procedure. From the first dental implant consultation to long-term care, we are here for you. We make sure to talk clearly. We help you answer every patient’s questions about multiple implants.

Advanced Digital Workflow How It Works Together

CAD/CAM Design and Making: Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software lets us design new teeth on a computer, allowing us to perfectly tailor the structures and final restorations. Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) then makes it easy to mill or 3D print these designs from various materials (e.g., zirconia, PEEK, titanium).

Accuracy: CAD/CAM technology ensures a passive fit and very accurate dental parts, which is very important for the lasting success of multiple implant restorations.

Wide Material Choice: It allows for making new teeth from many cutting-edge materials, including solid zirconia, strong plastics, and titanium.

Saves Time: Many studies show a 30–50% cut in the total treatment time (at the dentist’s office and in our lab) with a full digital process. For example, time for temporary teeth right away can be cut by half, and lab making time by up to 60%.

Istar Dental Lab’s deep knowledge of materials, advanced CAD/CAM technologies, and knowing these design rules well ensures that every multiple implant restoration we make works well and looks good, giving results that last and make patients happy.

Sometimes, a patient might want a second opinion for dental implants. We give you clear information to help them feel good about their decision.

Treatment Options for Multiple Dental Implants

Choosing the type of new teeth for multiple dental implants is a very important choice, making sure they are strong, look good, suit the patient, and are easy to care for over time. Istar Dental Lab expertly makes a wide variety of fixed and removable solutions, each made with specific rules to ensure they work best and last longest.

Fixed New Teeth Solutions

Fixed solutions are permanently cemented or screwed onto the implants, giving very strong and steady support, letting patients chew well, and feeling natural.

  • Implant-Supported Bridges: These replace several missing teeth, spanning across multiple implants. Early designs often included unsupported ends, but issues with how they work in the mouth made us move towards separated new teeth without unsupported ends, making it easier on the back implants and getting better long-term results. This change showed how important it is to spread forces equally across the supporting implants.
  • Full-Arch Fixed Prostheses: These replace all teeth in a whole arch, often using four to six or more implants.
    • All-on-X Concepts: New and groundbreaking methods, such as the “All-on-4” concept, completely changed how we replace all teeth by allowing fixed new teeth to be held by as few as four implants, often with two back implants tilted to get the most hold in the bone and stay away from important body parts. This approach greatly cut down on needing big bone grafts and made treatment faster. Options like “All-on-6” or “All-on-X” offer more support and options depending on bone and design.
    • Zirconia: Solid zirconia prostheses offer amazing strength and look, making them a top pick for tough cases. They are very strong against breaking (mean failure loads >2000 N) and have a very clear look. However, they can cause wear on natural teeth and veneering ceramic chipping.
    • High-Performance Polymers (e.g., PEEK): Materials like PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) have come out as other options, especially for the main support. Due to their lower elastic strength (~3-4 GPa), PEEK structures spread chewing forces more smoothly to the peri-implant bone, possibly cutting down on bone loss around the implant edge. While their strength against breaking is generally lower than zirconia (failure loads ~800-1200 N), versions with carbon fiber are better at resisting wear over time. PEEK is also less likely to wear down opposing teeth and much lighter, making patients more comfortable. However, they are more affected by the length of unsupported parts and need careful design to stop bending and screws getting loose.
    • Hybrid Approaches: Recent research looks into mixing strong inner parts (e.g., zirconia) with more flexible outer layers (e.g., PEEK or composite) to get the right mix of strength, absorbing shock, and less wear on opposing teeth. Istar Dental Lab is a leader in making these new mixed solutions.

Removable Overdentures

Implant-supported overdentures are new teeth that can be taken out and get their hold and help from implants, usually with special connectors (e.g., locators, bars). They offer better hold and work compared to regular dentures, while being cheaper and easier to clean for patients who have trouble with their hands.

  • Design Rules: Overdentures need careful planning of implant number and spread to ensure enough hold and grip. Bar-held designs offer very strong hold and linking of implants, while individual connector systems provide more options.
  • Things to Think About for Care: While offering easy to clean for patients, overdentures often need more regular care from a dentist due to connectors wearing out and needing adjustments.

Long-Term Success and Patient Care

A great result lasts a long time. We help you give patients the information they need for the long-term success of multiple implants. We help you explain the good points of replacing multiple teeth.

Patient Education:

  • Cleaning: We have guides on how to clean multiple dental implants. This includes flossing with implant bridges and using a water flosser for dental implants. We can suggest the best toothbrush for implants.
  • Diet: We provide lists of soft food for dental implants and explain the best diet after multiple implant surgery.
  • Habits: We explain why a night guard for dental implants is key for patients with Bruxism.

Troubleshooting: Problems can happen. We help you solve them.
