Your Partner for a Perfect Smile: Istar Dental Lab’s Fixed Permanent Implant Supported Dentures
As one of China’s top five dental labs, Istar Dental Lab is a leader in new ideas and exact work for fixed permanent implant-supported dentures. We focus on making a wide range of products, including full-arch solutions (like advanced multi-implant systems), partial prosthetics, and single-unit restorations. We do this using a variety of strong materials like zirconia, titanium, and special plastic-like materials. Our modern digital making processes, helped by artificial intelligence and modern robots, make sure they have a great fit, look good, and last a long time. This paper explains our excellent work, how we follow strict quality rules, and our plans for the future that make Istar Dental Lab your trusted partner for getting reliable and amazing results for your implant teeth.

A Closer Look at Fixed Permanent Implant Supported Dentures
Fixed permanent implant supported dentures are a special kind of dental prosthesis. They are a full arch implant bridge that stays in the mouth. It does not come out. This is different from a snap-in dentures solution like implant overdentures.
The fixed bridge is held in place by dental implants. These are small posts, often made of titanium implants or zirconia implants, put into the jaw. The jawbone grows around them. This process is called Osseointegration. It makes the base very strong. This strong base supports the new teeth, which can be a full set of permanent dentures.
Our Products and the Materials We Use
Istar Dental Lab offers a complete range of fixed permanent implant-supported dentures, carefully made to meet different clinical needs and what patients expect. Our product line includes full-arch restorations, including advanced multi-implant systems made for the best stability and use, as well as partial and single-unit prosthetics. Choosing the right materials is very important for the success and long life of these new teeth, and we use the newest findings in material science to give the best results.
A Closer Look at Our Materials
The main materials we choose are zirconia, titanium, and advanced plastic-like materials, each picked for its special features and when it should be used in the clinic:
- Zirconia: We use different types of zirconia, including 3Y-TZP for the most strength, and 4Y/5Y-TZP (high-translucency and ultra-translucent) for a better look.
- Monolithic Zirconia: Shows great resistance to breaking (8–12 MPa·m^0.5) and bending strength (900–1200 MPa for 3Y-TZP, 600–800 MPa for 5Y-TZP). Clinical studies show less than a 1% rate of major failure for monolithic zirconia bridges over 5 years. This makes them great for back teeth bridges, cases of bruxism, and for handling heavy biting forces. They get rid of the risk of the top layer chipping, which is a common problem with layered teeth. Polished monolithic zirconia causes less wear on the other teeth than surfaces with a glaze.
- Layered Zirconia: While monolithic zirconia now looks much better, layered zirconia, which has a zirconia core with a ceramic top layer, still offers a more see-through and natural tooth look, especially for the front teeth. However, layered zirconia has higher rates of chipping (up to 15% at 5 years) and sometimes the layers separate because the top ceramic is weaker.
- Hybrid Zirconia: We also use advanced multi-layered and gradient monolithic zirconia blocks that mix strength and good looks, giving a good, balanced option for many different cases.
- Titanium: Mainly used for frames, titanium offers great strength and is safe for the body.
- Titanium frames with plastic or composite top layers have high success rates but can have more problems with the new teeth, especially chipping of the top layer (up to 15% at 5 years).
- Titanium frames almost never break from use over time. The top materials are the part that wears down first.
- Hybrid Material Solutions: We are leaders in titanium-zirconia hybrids, mixing the strength and ability to be fixed of titanium frames with the good looks and wear resistance of monolithic zirconia top layers. Early information shows these solutions have high success rates and few problems.
- Polymeric Materials (e.g., PMMA): Used for temporary teeth or when cost is a major factor.
- Plastic-like bridges, even with stronger formulas, have higher break rates (10–20% at 5 years) and need to be repaired or replaced more often than zirconia or titanium.
- They tend to change color and wear down over time (especially after 2–3 years).
- However, plastic-like bridges are often rated higher for comfort at first because they are lighter and can soften impact. They are also the easiest to fix at the dentist’s office.
Our Digital Process from Start to Finish
At Istar Dental Lab, our great work comes from smoothly combining advanced digital methods with the newest ways of making things. This digital system ensures the best accuracy, speed, and quality checks, from the first design to the finished product.
Our Complete Digital Workflow
Our digital process starts by getting very accurate patient information and continues through advanced design and making:
- Getting Digital Information: We work smoothly with many types of intraoral and desktop scanners, taking many types of open scan files. This flexibility makes sure it works with almost any clinic’s equipment.
- Advanced CAD/CAM Design: Our design team uses top CAD/CAM software, known for its strong tools for implant planning, custom abutment design, and full-arch prosthetics. This software offers:
- Virtual Articulation and Dynamic Occlusion Simulation: This lets us create a custom bite for each patient based on how they really chew, which means fewer adjustments at the dentist’s office (by 15-20%).
- Automated Implant Angulation Correction and Custom Abutment Design: Using large libraries for major implant systems and using DICOM data to plan exactly.
- AI-Driven Design Proposals: Our systems use smart AI suggestions for designs of abutments and frames, cutting down on design time done by hand by 30-40%. AI also helps find mistakes and automatically improve the fit, pointing out problem areas and suggesting fixes right away.
- Getting High-Quality Materials: All materials we use come from trusted suppliers and are carefully checked for quality to make sure they meet international standards and are safe for the body.
- Exact Making: We use both milling (CAD/CAM Milling) and 3D printing methods:
- CAD/CAM Milling: For zirconia and titanium, our advanced milling machines make very exact frames and solid restorations.
- 3D Printing Technologies:
- Stereolithography (SLA) and Digital Light Processing (DLP): Used for very accurate printing of try-ins, surgical guides, temporary teeth, and more and more, permanent teeth using safe resins. These methods offer very fine detail (down to 25-50 microns) and a very smooth surface.
- Selective Laser Melting (SLM) and Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS): The best method for making cobalt-chrome and titanium frames directly. It offers great strength and an excellent fit (edge gaps <50 microns). We make sure to use ISO-certified powders.
- New Technologies: We are looking into MultiJet Fusion (MJF) and binder jetting to make many dental models and test frames quickly, always checking out new improvements.
- Automated Finishing: All made parts go through careful finishing steps, including washing, curing, removing supports, heat treating, and polishing in many stages. We use automated finishing solutions to improve speed and make sure everything is the same.
Our Efficiency and Accuracy Results
Our connected digital process regularly gets:
- Faster Design-to-Making Time: Labs using similar digital methods report improvements in speed of 25-50% compared to older ways.
- Great Edge Fit: Our digital methods achieve an edge fit within 20-50 microns for implant-supported fixed prosthetics, doing better than most older, non-digital methods.
- Fewer Remakes: Studies from top labs show remake rates are reduced (by 10-15%) and patients are happier when using AI-driven and motion-data-integrated methods.
Long-Term Success and Maintenance
Good care is key for permanent implant dentures. We help you teach patients about:
- Oral hygiene for implant dentures: This includes using a soft-bristle toothbrush and a water flosser for implants.
- Cleaning fixed implant bridges: Patients need to clean under the bridge every day.
- Regular dental check-ups: They must see you for professional dental cleaning.
- Diet with implant dentures: They can eat most foods but should be careful with very hard things.
- Night guard for bruxism: For patients with Bruxism (Teeth Grinding), a night guard can protect their new teeth and the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ).
