At Istar Dental Lab, the way we work is based on a smart mix of key digital tools and methods. These basic tools and programs help us make products with accuracy, speed, and the same great quality every time for all the dental products we offer.
Our process includes:
Intraoral Scanning for Data Acquisition: Intraoral scanning is the most important first step in our digital process. Instead of old-fashioned physical molds, it creates very exact 3D digital models of the patient’s mouth.
CAD/CAM Systems for Design and Milling: Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems are the smart center of our digital lab. They change the scan data into exact designs and then into real dental products. Our lab uses modern software that has a full set of tools for designing dental products.
Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) for Fabrication
Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, has completely changed how dental products are made, giving more freedom in design than ever before, saving material, and increasing speed. Stereolithography (SLA) and Digital Light Processing (DLP) are the main 3D printing methods we use because of their sharp detail (usually 25–100 microns) and because they work well with many safe-for-the-mouth resins.
This mix of tech helps us make everything from a single crown to a full-arch restoration workflow.
Materials We Use
Zirconia: Great for fast milling and heating, very strong (900–1200 MPa) for back crowns and bridges.
Lithium Disilicate: Can be milled for great looks and a natural see-through quality, especially for front teeth, with a flex strength around 400 MPa.
PFM: A popular choice that offers both good looks and strength. We use a variety of high-quality, safe metals for the inner core to make sure they won’t cause any allergic reactions.
Composite: Often used for affordable veneers, it’s flexible to work with and easy to repair.
PMMA: Used for temporary ones, easy to mill, and a low-cost way to make quick models.
